Indiana

We made it into Indiana in Friday, August 30th. We did a bit of Family Research in Southwestern Indiana (Fountain County). We got to meet a 93 year old Genealogist named Betty Dotson. It was amazing how much she knew. Unfortunately, she was a different Dotson line,  so she sent us to the Historical Society which helped us out. We drove all over Fountain County trying to collect information.  It was fun and interesting. I found out stuff that I didn't already know, so I can write a little more about my family's history.

Friday night, we made it to Shane and Melissa's, and got to go to a Varsity Football game to watch their son, Caston play. It was amazing to me to see how much they put into their teams, stadiums and team spirit. Leo Lions won 36 - 7 against the Angola Hornets. This is a serious Friday Night Lights area. GO, LEO, GO!
Caston is #74.

Saturday, we had a pretty relaxed day with a family BBQ at our Sister-in-law, Diane's, house. We had a lot of fun playing Cornhole, eating
Tri-tip, pasta salad, potatoes and cookies. Yum!
That was the day we really got to visit with one another. Across the road from Diane's, is Amish Country.  We got to watch the boys going out to get their dates in their buggies. I learned that whichever Amish Bishop is in charge of a certain area decides how the Amish in his area are to live. The Amish in Grabill, Indiana are able to have only uncovered buggies, but it seemed that they could decorate those buggies in whatever way they wanted to. The Amish teens were listening to boomboxes playing modern music. All of the Amish had cell phones,  and most had solar panels on their houses for electricity.  Very interesting to learn so much about them.
